In honor of World Alzheimer’s Day 2011 we honor and remember those we love. These are the faces of Alzheimer’s. They have forgotten themselves, but we will never forget them.

My mom Betty had early onset Alzheimer’s. She died at age 67, but really she was gone a long time before that. She never knew her granddaughters, and they won’t know her. She never even knew she had retired at last! I am worried I might get it. There are genetic markers for early onset Alzheimers but the test is $4K. You can buy a lot of fabric for $4K……
AAQI’s Wall of Remembrance puts a real face on someone who has, or has had this terrible disease. My beloved mother is 86 and in her 6th year of Alzheimer’s. She is the 15th member of my family, counting parents, aunts, and uncles to have, or have had Alzheimer’s Disease. My prayer is that I might never have MY face be among those that are now being counted!
Wednesday, September 21st is World Alzheimer’s Day. Check out the Virtual Wall of Remembrance on the Alzheimer’s Art Quilt Initiative Web Site http://WWW.AlzQuilts.org. If you donate $5 you can post a picture of a loved one you know that has or had Alzheimer’s. This will stay on the Alzheimer’s Art Quilt Initiative Virtual Wall of Remembrance for 1 year!
What a great idea. I made my $5 donation. Now I have to find a picture of my Aunt BeeBe
